In Gratitude

I want to express my deep appreciation to those of you who have purchased Becoming His Beloved: Journey into the Father’s Affection. Your support means so much to me (and even more to my husband who eagerly anticipates breaking even on this project!). Some of you have written words of encouragement, which has been an extra special blessing. A written word is not easily forgotten. Thank you so much.

My prayer for the book is that it will bring hope to those who have been touched and scarred by mental illness as well as by the grip of religion. For us, it’s a long journey to trust that God could be any different than how religion and the crazies have made Him out to be, but its true. His love and delight for us is without measure.

Henri Nouwen discusses the struggle of embracing this love in Life of the Beloved:

“There is a voice, the voice that speaks from above and from within and that whispers softly or declares loudly: You are my Beloved, on you my favor rests.” It certainly is not easy to hear that voice in a world filled with voices that shout: “You are not good, you are ugly; you are worthless; you are despicable, you are nobody—unless you can demonstrate the opposite.”

Later Nouwen concludes: “Being the Beloved expresses the core truth of our existence.”

May you rest in the knowledge that you are His beloved.
